DSDI Artist in Residence Program
(Spring 2026 Application NOW OPEN)

Through our residency program we seek to provide emergent artists with a chance to grow their practices by developing and showcasing an original body of work, learn to integrate creative technology into their practice with our assistance, and share their knowledge with the community through an educational workshop.

We invite all applicants of any and all mediums to apply, especially those whose work and creative ethos align with our missions of community-based, art-first, activism-centered. We invite artists who use either exclusively digital or traditional media, or artists who work with combinations of these mediums in their works.

What your residency will look like

Residencies will run monthly from April/May/June and each consist of a two-week time window during which you will have full access to our gallery space.

The two weeks will open with a workshop event where you will develop and present an hour-long workshop on a creative subject of your choice. Note - this does not need to be digital media specific!

We welcome a variety of mediums and subjects for our resident workshop series. The workshop can be on a specific process you’ve created or perfected that is integral to your practice, or an exploration of how to develop creative skills like connecting with brands or finding your personal voice. The workshop should consist of a slide presentation (or other creative visual media presentation) and studio/Q&A time for participants to practice the skills you teach.

Over the next two weeks the gallery will be yours to hold studio visits, install your work, and host mini pop-up activations at your choosing. Over this period you will also work with our team to develop a digital media component to activate your work - this will be a collaborative component of your final exhibition that our team will help develop alongside your creative vision.

The residency will end with a closing exhibition of your work - this is your big event! Keep it lowkey or bring in live music, food/drink sponsors, etc. Note - If you are interested about featuring sponsors at your reception but aren’t sure where to begin, we have a list of sponsors we’ve worked with in the past! The exhibition is a chance for you to share the fruits of your labor with our combined communities - it’s a great opportunity to introduce new eyes to your work and to connect with other creatives within our network. Note - DSDI collects 30% of any sales of artwork during this event. After the exhibition you will have a week-long time window to deinstall your work.
